About Valley Ace Hardware

Here for You, Here for the Valley

Serving the Wet Mountain Valley since 1885

Our History
Falkenburg Valley Ace

Our History

As the area flooded with gold and silver mining in the 1800’s, we began as a blacksmith and wheelwright shop serving the mining communities of the Sangre de Cristo and Sierra Mojado mountains of south-central Colorado. As the mines slowed down, our beautiful valley grew into a ranching community, and we changed to serve the needs of the ranchers and cattlemen.

Originally located on Main Street in the buildings now known as Chappy’s and the Brookwood Gallery, the hardware store soon outgrew its space and needed a larger facility. In the late ‘90s, Paul & Hope Wenke built our current 30,000-square-foot facility, complete with an indoor lumber yard, contractor center, rental and service center, and specialized support for custom home builders. This expansion allows us to provide the tools, materials, and expert guidance needed for building and crafting unique homes across the Wet Mountain Valley.

We pride ourselves on having a wide variety of inventory to serve ranchers, homeowners, home builders, small contractors, do-it-yourselfers, pet owners, and equestrian and outdoor enthusiasts. We will continue to stay focused on meeting your needs and we will maintain the same level of service that has sustained us since 1885.
